Low Vision Enhancement System

چکیده
The Johns Hopkins University, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the Veterans Administration are collaborating to develop and test the Low Vision Enhancement System (LVES), a new technology for aiding persons with severe, chronic visual impairments. The LVES consists of a batterypowered, binocular, head-mounted black-and-white video display equipped with three video cameras. Two cameras provide a 60° normal-magnification binocular view with near-normal disparity to orient the user in space. The center camera supplies a 50° variable-magnification, variable-focus "cyclopean" view to enhance and magnify images. Image-enhancement features currently under development include realtime preemphasis spatial filtering and real-time pixel remapping. Prototypes of the LVES currently are being tested on patients with low vision at the Veterans Administration Blindness Rehabilitation Centers and in its Vision Impairment Center To Optimize Remaining Sight programs.

متن کاملAppearance Enhancement for Visually Impaired with Projector Camera Feedback
Visually impaired is a common problem for human life in the world wide. The projector-based AR technique has ability to change appearance of real object, and it can help to improve visibility for visually impaired. We propose a new framework for the appearance enhancement with the projector camera system that employed model predictive controller. This framework enables arbitrary image processin...
متن کاملInvestigation of the Functional Balance in Children with Sensory Impairment 6 to 14 Years
Aim: The human body is kept in balance by a complicated process including visual, vestibular, and proprioceptive information. Since the postural control systems require information from all three sensory systems in order to achieve or maintain optimal postural stability, the absence of information of one system may have an influence on body sway during balance .The purpose of this study was to ...
